Twenty years behind a camera and thirty years diving. Most of what I know, I learned the slow way: blown highlights, green water, whales that left just as I got the settings right.
You don't need to take the slow way. I'll show you how I read light underwater, how I get close without chasing, and how I take a flat raw file to a finished image. No secret sauce. Just a workflow that works, and honest feedback while you learn it.

Underwater Mentorship
You, me, the water and your camera. We shoot together, then sit down and edit what you brought back.
Each day is shaped around where you are now. Camera setup and strobe placement, approach and body position, composition, then the full edit from import to export. Mentorships run alongside my expeditions, with a maximum of 4 guests per trip, so spots are limited.

Brand new to photography? Start here. One on one with me, from the basics to the skills pros rely on.
Most beginners spend years teaching themselves through YouTube and guesswork. We skip that. You'll learn your camera inside out, shoot in manual with confidence, read light, nail focus on moving wildlife and compose images that hold attention. Then we edit your shots together, so you leave with a full workflow, not just settings you'll forget.

Live 1:1 on Zoom. You share your screen, we work on your own raw files.
Colour correction, backscatter, blue water that actually looks blue, and getting a consistent look across a whole set. Mostly Lightroom Classic with Photoshop where it earns its place. Every session is recorded so you can watch it back.

FAQ
Good to know
How is mentorship different from an editing session?
Mentorship happens in person: we shoot together, underwater or on land, then edit what you shot. An editing session is online only and starts once your photos are already on your computer. One fixes the shooting, the other fixes the processing.
I'm a beginner. Is this for me?
Yes. Some of the biggest jumps I see come from people early on, before bad habits set in. If you're starting from zero, the Fieldcraft Mentorship is built exactly for you. Bring your camera, I'll handle the rest.
What camera do I need?
Whatever you've got. Compact, mirrorless or DSLR in a housing, we work with your setup. If you're about to buy gear, ask me first and save yourself some money.
Lightroom or Photoshop?
Both. Lightroom Classic does most of the heavy lifting, Photoshop handles colour work and backscatter clean up. No Adobe yet? Get the Photography Plan before your session and we start from there.
Can I start online and add mentorship later?
Sure. An editing session is a cheap way to learn how I teach. If it clicks, the mentorship takes it further in the water.
When do mentorship spots open?
Along with each expedition, and with a maximum of 4 guests per trip they don't last. Zoom edits are much easier to fit in, usually within a couple of weeks.
Good images aren't luck. They're a workflow you can learn.
